April 7

1979– The California Music Festival took place with artists like Aerosmith, Van Halen, Cheap Trick, The Boomtown Rats, and Ted Nugent headlining the festival.

April 8

1994– An electrician working at Kurt Cobain’s house in Seattle when his body was discovered along with a shotgun. A suicide note was found that said, “I haven’t felt the excitement of listening to as well as creating music, along with really writing . . . for too many years now”. Heroin and traces of Valium were also found in Cobain’s body.

April 9

1997 – Soundgarden announced their break up, which lasted for 13 years until they decided to reunite in 2010.

April 10

1993 – Depeche Mode topped the U.S. charts with Songs Of Faith And Devotion.

April 11

2014 – Nirvana was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. “Nirvana tapped into a voice that was yearning to be heard. Nirvana were kicking against the mainstream. They spoke truth and a lot of people listened.” REM’s Michael Stipe said while inducting the group.
