The Launch Box featuring Two Door Cinema Club

Two Door Cinema Club is an indie rock/pop band from Northern Ireland, made up of singer/guitarist Alex Trimble, guitarist/singer Sam Halliday, and bassist/singer Kevin Baird. The band formed in 2007, after Trimble and Halliday met in school, and met Baird through mutual friends. The trio skipped going to the university to focus on the band, which paid off in the long run. The band’s debut EP, Four Words to Stand On, was released in January 2009, and received positive reviews and music blog buzz, which grew with the release of their next single “Something Good Can Work.”

This is the video for “Something Good Can Work” which was used in the 2011 film Chalet Girl.

That summer, Two Door Cinema Club recorded their debut album in London. “Undercover Martyn,” arrived in January 2010, and was featured on the soundtrack of the video game Gran Turismo 5. shortly after, the band released their first full-length album Tourist History.

Also from their first album, this is the video for “Come Back Home”

Their second album Beacon was released in August of 2012, and “Sleep Alone” was selected as the lead single.

“Sun”, the second single from Beacon, was released in November.

Below is the video for “I Can Talk”, which was used in MTV’s Teen Wolf, and in my opinion… Their best song!

Following the release of Beacon, the band released a four-part tour documentary entitled What We See. The documentary accompanies the band members as they undertake a 2012 European summer tour prior to the release of the second album.

And now, four years after the release of their second LP Beacon, Irish three piece Two Door Cinema Club have returned with a new single, “Are We Ready?”, from their forthcoming release GAMESHOW.

Taking a departure from the sound of their first album, this one focuses on a a bass led groove. Check out the new single here:

Two Door Cinema Club‘s GAMESHOW  is out on the 14th of October!

Band name origin:

The name came from a small cinema called the Tudor cinema which Sam pronounced wrong when thinking of a band name – Tudor Cinema Club – so the spelling got changed to Two Door.
