Kongos is an alternative rock band from South Africa, formed in 2007. All of the members are siblings – Dylan, Daniel, Jesse, and Johnny Kongos, the sons of popular South African singer/songwriter John Kongos. They are based out of Phoenix, Arizona, and some of their influences include Coldplay, Muse, the Boxer Rebellion, and Kings of Leon… but with a South African feel.
They released their debut album KONGOS in 2007. One of the best songs from it is “Nothing.” Click the video below to listen!
They followed up with the platinum-selling Lunatic in 2012, which spawned the hit singles “I’m Only Joking” and “Come with Me Now.”
Definitely their most popular song… I can remember hearing this song on several radio stations that played very different genres of music. That’s probably due to the fact that it’s not only catchy, but it also mixes rock, pop, tribal beats, with a unique blend of instruments. Watch the official video for “Come With Me Now” below!
The band’s third studio album, Egomaniac, dropped in June 2016, and features the single “Take It from Me.”
