The original Americana / Hard Country band based out of Lafayette, LA Doublewide has be been making a big noise as of late with each show they play and letting you know that they are here to stay. Doublewide’s music is inspired by a wide variety of artists and styles, including: Waylon Jennings, Johnny Cash, Bad Religion, Wilco, AC/DC, Pearl Jam, The Clash, Motorhead, Pink Floyd, Bob Segar, and Neil Young. The band’s self-titled debut album, “Doublewide”, featured musicians from Colorado and Louisiana. All songs were written by Matt Thornton and produced by Dave Nezat. The songs became a grand mix of rock, cajun, and country-fried glory, and gained regional airplay with songs like ‘Cow’ and ‘My Bud’. Bringing out the big guns, they are making a statement with their upcoming release called ‘2’ which is an ambitious double disc album filled with 22 songs. Some of the stand out tracks on the new album for me include ‘Derby’, ‘Jukebox’, ‘Trouble’ and ‘Nashville’. I guess it’s true what they say about “going big or go on home” and Doublewide is clearly making it known with this new album. The band is comprised of Matt Thornton, Dave “Papa Puff” Nezat, Justin Lewis and Shannon May.
