It’s unfortunate when world of music loses someone as talented as Christina Grimmie, who was tragically shot during an autograph signing session after a concert and later died from her wounds. But it’s doubly tragic when that talented young lady is also a gamer-girl. Grimmie’s YouTube name was ZeldaxLove64, an obvious nod to Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time on the Ninteno 64, one of my personal fave games, as well as hers. Part of me feels like I’ve lost a friend, after finding out she was a fan of not only the beloved Zelda franchise, but also the under-rated SNES title EarthBound from my childhood, and other popular franchises like Super Mario and Pokémon.
Fans are now petitioning Nintendo to name an NPC in the forthcoming Legend of Zelda title after the singer, who was self-confessed fan not only of the series, but Nintendo in general.
The petition – which can be found on Change.org – has over 25,000 signatures alreay, and I’m about to add MINE. If you’d like to see Grimmie immortalised in the next Zelda, then don’t forget to pledge your support.
Below, watch her performance of “Somebody that I Used to Know” alsong side her coach from the Voice, Adam Levine.
Rest in Peace Princess…
