Phantogram is an electronic rock band from New York that formed in 2007. Having such a rich sound, it’s hard to believe they are a duo! Comprised of longtime friends Josh Carter (guitar, vocals) and Sarah Barthel (keyboards, vocals), they were originally known as “Charlie Everywhere.”
In March 2009, Phantogram released the eponymous Phantogram EP, which sparked interest with their songs “Mouthful of Diamonds” and “When I’m Small.”
Their hilariously titled Running from the Cops EP was released in May 2009, just before finally releasing a full-length album in 2010 called Eyelid Movies. The 11-track album featured the four previously released EP songs “Mouthful of Diamonds,” “When I’m Small,” “Running from the Cops,” and “Bloody Palms.”
In 2011, the duo released their Nightlife EP, which sold enough to hit the lower reaches of the U.S. charts.
Though touring heavily, Phantogram still managed to find time to collaborate with OutKast’s Big Boi on his second album Vicious Lies and Dangerous Rumours in 2012. They are also featured on the Flaming Lips track “Young Lust” that came out in 2013.
“When I’m Small” appeared on the MTV adaptation of the hit U.K. show Skins, and they released a four-song, self-titled EP. Near the end of 2013, they returned to upstate New York to write and record their second full-length album Voices, released in 2014.

Phantogram has a brand new, 10-track album called Three on the way, and is set to drop on September 16 via Republic. Phantogram’s tour kicks off two weeks later at Las Vegas’ Brooklyn Bowl and will run through November. Below is the video for “You Don’t Get Me High Anymore” from the upcoming album Three.
And I looooove when bands have “Getting to Know” videos… like this one!
