The Georgia Flood is a groovy genre-blending band from Atlanta, GA, who are greatly influenced by Blues and Southern 60s/70s style rock.
The line-up consists of two brothers, Lane Kelly and Brooks Mason. They began playing music when they were very young – seven and nine years old respectively. Their unique sound comes from the exploration of various genres, including pop, classic rock, and blues.
Self-financed, the band put together a seven song EP, though they had over 30 tracks recorded, they selected only their favorites for the EP. According to the duo, it was REALLY hard to choose only seven songs, but each of those tracks journey through themes of love, good times, and tragedy.
The first single, “Whistle King,” gives the listener a good synopsis of what the album is about… And it’s catchy – Check it out below!
According to Lane Kelly (bassist/backing vocals) “Whistle King” is about how crazy their lifestyle is on the road. He says “Playing in an indie band is a constant state of discovery, and lyrically, “Whistle King” exemplifies much of that exhilaration and frustration.”
Their new album, People Like Ourselves, dropped on December 2nd. Check out the official music video for the last track on the EP – “The Race”
The second track on the album is the super-chill “Better Not Together” – with an entertaining stop-motion video, featuring lots of bodypaint! Watch it below!
