Norwood Recording Co. presents An Evening with Andrew Duhon

Posted by on August 21, 2015 in Featured

Norwood

Norwood Recording Co. presents an intimate acoustic evening 7-10pm tonight (8-21) with New Orleans based singer/songwriter Andrew Duhon featuring percussionist Max Zemanovich.  Lafayette singer/songwriter Sean Bruce will be the opening act with supporting musicians Chad Viator (guitar) and Trey Boudreaux (upright bass). This will be the first of many listening events brought to Theatre 810 in hopes of capturing the art of songwriting in a quiet, comfortable, and smoke free venue. Tickets available here.

About Andrew:
Andrew Duhon is a songwriter from New Orleans, a teller of stories with an undeniable voice, weighted and soulful. Duhon has released 3 recordings – the latest of which, The Moorings, was nominated for a Grammy in 2014 for Best Engineered Album. He has toured solo for much of his career, and that troubadour element is certainly present, an usher of modern day folklore. His latest group, The Andrew Duhon Trio brings a new musicality to the tunes with upright bassist, Myles Weeks and drummer, Maxwell Zemanovic.

Since recording The Moorings together as their first project, the Trio has been crossing the American landscape, touring and creating together, the thoughtful colors of the trio breathing a new musicality and direction into Duhon’s songwriting traditions. www.andrewduhon.com

About Sean:
Sean Bruce is an indie folk artist from Lafayette, LA. Sean released his debut album Daytime Hopes in April 2011. His musical influences include legends such as Bruce Springsteen and Bob Dylan. He combines these melodic influences with the styles of writers like Ray Bradbury and Robert Frost. Armed with an acoustic guitar and a harmonica, Bruce has a great ability to combine story and song, which has garnered credit from Grammy Award winning songwriter, David Egan: “This is truly inspired, brilliant and beautiful.”

Bruce’s new album Staring at Maps, pt. 1 was recorded in 10 various locations throughout south Louisiana. “I wanted to capture the honesty in these songs. Just putting a mic in front of the moment. I hope people really listen for that.” The songs he chose reflect on place and the effect it has on life. “Place could be geographically or emotionally. I think it’s the reason behind most of the decisions we make.” Staring at Maps, pt. 1 released on November 18, 2014. Part 2 is expected to release in Fall 2015. www.seanbrucemusic.com
