I’ve been looking forward to Marvel’s The Defenders for quite some time, and I’m so glad, it did not disappoint.
All 4 of Netflix’s Marvel series, Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist, come together to form The Defenders and if you liked the series individually, you’ll like this one, especially if, like me, you liked them all.
There is just as much ass-kicking as you would expect from the series. I really feel like it’s almost as good as The Avengers, but in a way better, because you get so much more time to get to know these characters, and the villains. The “heroes” are great, but the villains are also great in their own way. Some of them came together for this, and while Sigourney Weaver was just fantastic, I couldn’t help but miss my favorite villain of The Defenders, Jessica Jones’ villain and the 10th Doctor Who, David Tennant. But seriously don’t get me wrong, I forgot I missed him while at least during the time I saw Sigourney Weaver.
The way that the whole team comes together is my favorite part. Only Jessica and Luke know each other, but they have some unknown connections to one another and one character is across all 5 series, a character they’ve all needed at some point or another, nurse Claire Temple played by Rosario Dawson. And a few other support characters make appearances.
I highly recommend seeing all 4 other Marvel series before you watch, while it’s not absolutely necessary, most people can figure out the basics, there are lots of times that it really helps to have seen everything, especially to really appreciate how they come together.
TL;DR – 4 *Supers* from the Marvel Universe come together to kick some Hand-ass.
