1996 – Oasis played the first of two nights at Maine Road in Manchester, the home of Manchester City, as a thank-you to fans. The 80,000 tickets sold out in hours.

2003 – Apple launched iTunes, which became the first widely-successful legal music download site.
April 29
1976 – After a gig in Memphis, Bruce Springsteen took a cab to Elvis Presley’s Graceland home and climbed over the wall. He was apprehended by security.
April 30
1991 – Nirvana signed a recording contract with Geffen’s DGC label for $290,000.
May 1
1980 – The South African government banned Pink Floyd’s single “Another Brick In The Wall” after children adopted the song as their anthem in protest against inferior education.

1995 – Bob Dylan released MTV Unplugged in the U.S. It features acoustic versions of many of his biggest hits, including “Like a Rolling Stone,” “The Times They Are a-Changin’,” and “Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door.”

2005 – Nine Inch Nails released their fourth studio album, With Teeth. It features “The Hand That Feeds,” “Only,” and “Every Day Is Exactly the Same.”
